NCIS: Los Angeles Season 5 = Amazing!

Last season NCIS: Los Angeles left viewers on a cliffhanger.  Deeks and Sam were both being tortured by associates of the Chameleon (Janvier) while Kensi and Callen were trying to find the nuclear devices before they were sold into the wrong hands.  Little did we know as viewers how this event would effect all of the characters for the rest of season 5.  The repercussions are still being played out in fact, even mid season.  Deeks went through a rough time dealing with his personal torture and he admitted to Kensi that thinking of her was what got him through without losing his mind.  Kensi also realized how much she had grown to love Deeks and it looked like they were going to start up a proper relationship.  But this was not to be, as Heddy sent Kensi off to Afganistan to work undercover as a sniper which left us all with our mouths hanging open.  How could they do this when they had just gotten together?  The writers of the show are trying to make sure that Kensi and Deeks remain a couple without hurting the momentum of the show.  Most of the time, when a popular couple gets together, the show then "jumps the shark" and no one is interested anymore because what they wanted has been fulfilled.  By keeping them apart but still wanting each other, they are making sure this show lasts for more seasons.  We know Kensi will eventually come back but in the mean time the dynamic of Deeks having to work with Callen and Sam together is hilarious.  Also, the Chameleon is still available for more episodes of torturing Callen.  At the end of the first episode this season, Callen watched as he was placed in a cell at a maximum security prison.  Janvier made sure to remind Callen as he was leaving of the book The Count of Monte Cristo, a story where a man is wrongfully sent to prison and after years escapes to exact his revenge.  Janvier will definitely be back for more.

NCIS:LA Season 4 Finale - Loved It!

     I seriously love this show!  Just like last season, the episode left us on a huge cliffhanger and now I have to wait 4 months to see the conclusion.  ARGH!!!  This post will contain SPOILERS so read below at your own risk if you haven't seen the episode....
     Last season's finale left me wondering if they had changed the character of Callen as it appeared that he committed a heinous crime on live television, killing The Chameleon.  Turns out that was all an illusion (a nice trick by the writers that totally hoodwinked me) and Callen's morality was still intact.  Bringing back this nemesis from the season 3 finale and season 4 premiere was a genius move as The Chameleon already had a history on the show and with this team.  Turns out NCIS needs him to broker a nuclear arms deal with some of his contacts so Callen and Kensi retrieve him from Iran.  Meanwhile Sam and Deeks must be partners even though Sam really wants Callen watching his back.  Their conversation while playing chess in a park is hilarious, by the way and we find out that Sam just doesn't trust Deeks like he trusts Callen.  In previous episodes, Kensi and Deeks have been secretly pining for one another but neither one is willing to put their feelings out there in the open.  However, when Kensi and Deeks are covering Sam and Sam's wife Michelle, Deeks kisses Kensi!  It was so unexpected and so worth it.  You could tell from Deek's face that he really cares for Kensi and the tension they have had lately has really bothered him.   Of course, at that moment Kensi has to rush off to follow Michelle who ends up being caught by two operatives and Deeks has to rescue Sam who is drowning in a pool.  Callen, who has been watching the op now realizes that he has been outplayed by The Chameleon and that his ultimate plan was revenge on Callen and the people he loves.  He may loose the nuke as well as his friends if he can't find a solution.  At the end of the episode, Kensi is caught in a crossfire, Michelle is hanging out a window, Sam is strapped to a chair being electrocuted and Deeks is having his teeth drilled without anesthetic.  Fade to black...to be continued........................ in SEPTEMBER!

Season Finale of NCIS: Los Angeles

NCIS: Los Angeles is one of my favorite shows currently on TV and I have been a fan since the very first episode that aired on NCIS.  G. Callen, played by Chris O'Donnell, is my favorite character and I adore watching him evolve over the episodes.  The finale for season 3, however, had me distressed.  Callen murdered an evil man in cold blood while TV crews watched and was immediately arrested for it.  Looking at it from the character's perspective, you understand why Callen wanted this man, the Chameleon, dead as he had killed some of Callen's colleagues.  But Callen always seems to have self control when it counts.  He's an orphan whose mother was murdered in front of him as a child, he was never accepted in any of his many foster homes, and he doesn't even know what his first name is.  He has endured this tortured childhood and yet become a valuable member of NCIS.  He has turned his life around.  While he is always on the edge of loosing it, his inner strength and values of right and wrong always surface in the end before its too late.  But not this time.  It was disturbing to me as I don't want my favorite character to loose his humanity. It is the glue that holds him together when everything else in his life is falling to pieces.  I hope that in the premiere of season 4 redemption for Calen is achieved or at least shown as a possibility down the road.  I am very curious to see how the writers turn this plot twist around.
